I made this card for my Nan’s 90^th Birthday, as usual I managed to leave it to the last minute (or at least the evening before) to get it made. The stamp was actually a Christmas stamp of a Robin but I changed it into a blue-tit for this card.

This was a commission for a 20th wedding anniversary, the image is actually taken from the main panel on a creative expressions treasure box stamp. and the little panel is actually the tads that are used to stick the box together. The flower were stamped on fantasy fibres and layers on top of the base image.

Christmas Card for a Bear Collector

I was asked to make this card for a friend who make hand made teddy bears as she wanted to sent it to someone who buys a lot of her bears. This was a variation of a couple of canvases i made earlier in the year so i pincher the layout and resized it to make a card. I made the furry border by finger knitting a length of a fluffy yarn.

I decided i really ought to use one of the pirate stamps I bought a while ago somehow ended up with a combination of red. blue, yellow and black (colours that i would not usually put together).
Stamps - Tilda Pirate, Rope and Crate, Whipper Snapper Ship and Map (overstamped on the flower), Clarity Moon and Butterfly Kisses Greeting.
Coloured with promarkers (shadowed with a prisma black pencil)
The dotty distressed paper is from a pirate themed set by Sandy lion
Tools - nestabilities, Tim Holtz tattered floral and flourish dies, distressing tool & ink dusters
Embellishments - Paper flower

I stamped layers of the tattered floral layers with a Whipper Snapper treasure map die and formed them into a rose, inked a paper flower with black ink and a touch of black glitter.

To finish it off i distressed the edges of all of the layers with a distressing tool and a black inkpad.

This one took a bit of thinking about as the brief I was given was "just a traditional wedding card" which sounded fine and then he added "they like golf and camper vans" neither of which seemed a natural fit on a tradtional wedding card.

I opted to go with the golf as the easier of the two options.

Red Gorguss Girl

This inspiration for this card started with a deep red rose which was quite a strong colour choice for me but I though was a good match for this sitting Gorguss Girl Image.

The papers I used are K&Co and I coloured the card with Promarkers and added shading with a black Prisma Pencil. I stamped the background and inked it with distress inks.

To embellish it I machine stitched round each of the background layers and added flowers, Stamens, rafia, a punched butterfly and leaves.

The inside of the card has been designed to mirror the layout on the front.

This is the first time I have got round to using this Tilda With Blueberries image and on recently seeing how many flowers i had i decided to use a few more than usual.

The papers I used are magnolia and DCWV and I coloured the card with Prisma Pencils and inked the background with distress inks.

To embellish it I machine stitched round each of the layers and added flowers, lace, ribbon, pearls, punched butterflies, jewels and a pin & beads.

The inside of the card has been designed to mirror the layout on the front.

I decided to try using the Edwin Surfer that came with one of the Magnolia Stamp Club sets. I coloured him in using prisma pencils and inked the background using ink dusters and distress inks. I used DCWV Dress it up (blue/green) and magnolia skull and crossbones papers.

I embellished the card using a DCWV stitched ribbon, a time holtz dies cut swirl which I embossed with black glitter embossing powder to add texture. three pewter brads and a Lili of the Valley sentiment.

Blue Poppy Girl

I decided to try out this sweet Sarah Kay image for a change. I have quite a few but haven't used them that much in the past as i found as I struggled to get a clear image using my water based inks (as the ink seem to pool a bit on the stamp) but since i bought a "clearly better" ink pad I've had much better results.

I used a DCWV romance (brown) and two Nitwits papers (blue), coloured the image with prisma pencils and imked the background with ink dusters and distress inks. I embellished the card with an organza bow which I heated slightly to get it to crinkle up and a couple of die cut corners.

Gorguss Girl With Letter

This was my second attempt at colouring a Gorguss girl with promarkers and adding shadows with a black prisma pencil. I used a DCWV paper as the background and added two Bearly Mine papers as the panels, the colour combination was an unusual choice for me as i tend to go for the obviously toning choices for colours, but i really liked these together.

I cut the main image and the Lili of the Valley sentiment out with nestabilites (and was rather annoyed to discover that my smallest oval nestie has gone astray especially as I have a horrible feeling its ended up in the bin at some point). I cut the border with an EK Success panel and embellished the card with an organza ribbon and a satin ribbon and bow.

Leaving Present

I made this for a friend at work who was leaving to have a baby, I was at a bit of a loss as to what to buy her as she had bought virtually everything for herself. Although I'd left it until the last minute and only had one evening to come up with something I remembered seeing these little drawer easel cards last year and I decided to try to make one to hold a little gift (5 pairs of scratch mitts).

I made the drawer and box from mountboard and card, and printed off some Nitwits papers which I matted onto a contrasting card and stitched around the edges.

The main image (which was coloured with prisma pencils) and the sentiment were framed using nestabilities and a border for the panel on both the base and main card were punched using a Martha Stewart lace heart punch.

I embellished the card using pearls, flowers, punched leaves and made a handle for the drawers from an eyelet, a bead cap and a brad.

I struggled with this card as yellow really isn't my colour at all, but i ended up going back to my trusty K&Co pad (Don't know what I'll do for yellow card when i run out of this)
I stamped the rose tree and trowel stamps and coloured them with promarkers and added a touch of sakura yellow glitter pen to the roses.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to create a decorative border for the main image and the ribbon across the base panel and created a rose using Tim Holtz tattered floral die.

I embellished is with ribbon, pearls and a craftwork card sentiment.

Strawberry Birthday Cake

Although stamping is usually more my sort of thing, I thought I ought to use some of the forever friends decoupage I won in a craft draw last year. (It was dies cut but i do have to admit to trimming it up a bit) I used some DCWV Nana's Kitchen papers which I edged with mock stitching , champagne colours pearls and some pearly stuff for the swirls and a Lily of the Valley sentiments.

Tilda Witch

On sorting out some files on my computer i came across some images I didn't get round to uploading, so decided I'd try to do that over the next few days. Included was this Tilda image easel card which i coloured with prima pencils (I attempted it with promarkers first but wasn't happy with the result). The papers i used were from craftwork cards (dotty) and K&Co (purple) and the sentiment came from a sheet of dragon stamps I don't know the make but if I'm remembering correctly I ordered them from somewhere New Zealand.

I went a bit mad with punches and dies on this one, as well as my nestabilites i use a doily style dies, a martha stewart cobweb and gravestone border punches and an EK success dotty wave border punch.

I stitched the borders of the background papers and added a tag and pocket into the back of the card.
I finished the card with some paper flowers, punched leaves, black jewels and an organza bow.

This was my first attempt at colouring a Gorguss Girl stamp with promarkers then added shading with Prisma pencils and used ink dusters and distress inks for the background. I was really happy with the way it turned out and I'll definitely be colouring them this way again. The papers i used were from the DCWV Garden Party pad.

I embellished the card with a decorative organza ribbon and a plain satin ribbon and bow.

This inspiration for this card card came from the DCWV Pocket of Posies paper (which I've have for ages). On flicking through it i found an orange layered background paper and although orange isn't really my colour, on spotting the paisley motifs I decided that this Tilda image would be a perfect match. To go along with this i chose a handmade glittered paper which seemed to complement the sari/Indian theme.

I coloured the Tilda with promarkers and added shading with a black Prisma pencil and inked the background using ink dusters and distress inks.

I embellished it with a punched out dragon fly, a selection of flowers, a couple of decorative pins, a Craft Work cards greeting, a bit of sari ribbon and a touch of glitter onto her bindi.

I forced myself to cut into the gorgeous DCWV Linen Closet stack for this card.
Once I'd picked the papers the soft colours made me reach for the lily of the valley stamp which I coloured with prisma pencils.

I inked the background with colour dusters and distress ink again and finished the card with some flowers and a craft work cards sentiment.

On my seeming never ending quest to do a few cards that would be okay for men I decided to drag this little owl stamp out of the drawer for this card. He's so sweet though i really can't think why I've not used him before.

I sat him on a swirl stamp and inked the background using ink dusters and distress inks, I was struggling with what to use for an embellishment until i remember this lead die and found a tiny little acorn in amongst my buttons.

This the was first time i tried out the colouring technique of adding shadow and shading to an image coloued with promarkers using prisma pencils, I was really surprised what a difference it makes but will be definatley be using it again.

Leaving To Have A Baby

A friend at work is leaving soon (temporarily) to have a baby so I was tasked with making the card for her. I know she loves anything with hearts on so thought this character would look sweet sat in the heart shaped nestability (I wanted the figure to face the opposite way to the stamp so had to reverse the image using my brayer - it took a few tried to get it right but was quite happy with it in the end)

This card presented a bit of a challenge image wise as I was was asked for a cute character driving a car with an L plate on.

The problem was i had no stamps at all that were suitable - in the end i ended up piecing together two decoupage images. The car originally had Donald Duck in it (but i didn't think that was suitable for a 17 year old girl) so manged to find a Milo image who was the right size to replace him with.

This is the third of the Thank you cards i have done (again with a golfing theme). This time I used a Penny Black hedgehog stamp I've had for quite a while.

I have made some golf ball embellishments by cutting out a small circle using my nestability dies and using the cuttlebug bubbles folder to de-boss the dimples onto it.

Large Floral Card

I was asked to create a large (A4) card for a ladies 80th birthday, the only restrictions i was given was it should have flowers and be light pastel colours. As the stamps had didn't seem big enough i dug out a my craft studio no stamp required CD that i don't think I've used since i bought it and took the outline image from there. The paper were also from a CD - a Kanban one that containing background paper that match some tree themes stamps and toppers.

Glittered Jade Butterfly

This card was made in two stages. I originally made the background and layout for my spring wedding carriage card but it wasn't quite right so i ended up taking that image off (and creating a new background for it) and replacing it with this glittered acetate butterfly that seemed a lot more in keeping with this background.

Popcorn Reading

Haven't managed to upload anything for a week or so as all the cards I've done have had a lot of mirror card on and i've not figured out a way to successfully photograph them yet without the reflection ruining the pitures.

Decided to try out one of the Popcorn stamps I bought aged ago, i bought about a dozen of them but have only used a couple of them. I tried colouring this one with Prisma Colour Pencils which had worked a lot better than my previous attempts at colouring Popcorn.

Yet another image I've never used before, I used promarkers again on this one and although I wasn't sure whilst i was colouring it I think it's ended up ok.

This was yet another stamp that i had to have when i saw it and months later had still failed to use (I have no idea why as I think she's really sweet). As she's such a strong and modern image I decided to use promarkers for this one to give a brighter look.

I coloured the images using promarkers and added stickles to her wings. The image was cut and bordered using nestabilites and the two square patches were edged with mock stiching using a white pen. I finished the card with a toning gingham ribbon & bow and corners made from adhesive jewel corners.

Haven't done any card making for a week or so (I managed to burn my hand on a frying pan so was out of action for awhile).

I've had this stamp for a while but have never got round to using it before and thought she went really well with the soft pastel look i was going for with this card.

This cards is using an image that someone had stamped for me quite a while ago (before i bought any Tilda stamps). Unfortunatley at the time I wasn't happy with any of the images I coloured as they were stamped on the back of hammer card and I couldn't get a good effect with the watercolour techinques i was using.

As i thought this image was really sweet I thought i'd give them a try using my Prisma Pencils - The effect isn't quite as good as on the smooth white card i've been using to stamp on but I think its turned out ok.

As I'm off work for a few days over easter I've got a bit more time for crafting, in between getting roped into helping with the garden.

The crafting I'm enjoying but the gardening is not really my thing, the last plant i tried to look after was a cactus which i managed to kill within about a month (I dropped it out of its pot which it didn't appreciate) so from that point on i took to giving any plants i was given to my mum, along with cut flowers which are wasted on me as i tend to put them in a vase and look at them again until about 3 weeks later when I notice they are all dead.

At first glance this could seem like an odd image to use to use for a retirement card, but this one is for a friend who is retiring (through ill health) from running her new age / gothic shop so it seemed quite apt.

As far as techniques go I'm still using my prisma pencils which i thought produced a really nice look on this image, in general I'm finding them a lot easier to control than watercolours (and I'm less inclined to go too heavy handed with the colours).

I coloured the images using Primsa color pencils and blended using sansador, i used nestabilites to frames her but left the top of her hat peeking out of the frame.

Green and Blue Tilda

Decided I'd done way too many pink cards recently, not all from choice but it seemed to be the requested colour for about 5 of the cards i've done recently so have decided that i'm going to try to avoid it for at least the next half dozen projects.

This is the first one still playing with my new prisma pencils, my plan is to stick to colouring Tildas with them for a few cards then when i'm happy with them to change to another type of image for a few cards.

Products used:

Papers - DCWV Nana's Nursery (Boy) & DCWV Cardstock
Stamped Images - Tilda wearing trainers, Papermania greeting stamp
Embellishments - Prima & paper flower, silver bead, brad and green pearls
Tools used - Primsa Pencils, Distress inks (Bundled sage & Pine needles), Border Punch, Paperstumps (for blending), glue pen, glitter pen & stippling brush.

I coloured the images using Primsa color pencils and blended using sansador, edged the main image and greeting with distress inks and finished it with a touch of glitter on the wings and a prima flower, bead and brad.

I've finally finished making all the cards that have been ordered and the wedding invitaitons i'd promised to do, so this weekend i've had a chance to play with the new set of prisma color pencils and some gorgeous My Minds Eye paper that have been sitting in my craft room untouched for the past 2 weeks.

I think i need to practice a bit more with the pencils to get an idea on how much colour to put down before blending but over all as a first attempt i was very happy with it.

Greeting - Printed from computer

Knitting Bunny

I was asked to make a card with knitting at the theme for a 70 year old lady (bingo was my other option but i didn't have anything related to that) so decided this Happy Hopper would be just about right.

I watercoloured the image using Marvy le Plume pens and highlighted using a white pen and finished it with card candy.

Baby Girl Christening Card

I was asked to make a card for traditional Catholic Christening so thought this image was just right.

Products used:

Papers - K&Co Babby Girls Stack.
Stamped Image - PSX baby on moon.
Embellishments - Cross charm, glitter and statin ribbon

Tools used - Cuttelbug, embossing folder, nestabilities, stipple brush, ink and watercolour pencils.

I coloured the image using watercolour pencils and a water brush and highlighted it using clear glitter and used the stipple brush and ink whilst the nestability was stil in place to give the image a soft frame. The greeting was printed on a laser printed and foiled using a laminator and the card was finished using the ribbon and charm.

Happy Hopper Baby Card

This card was made using 2 of the Happy Hopper baby stamps, as they are quite small i have include some text to make the main image larger.

Very Pink! Rose Mothers Day Card

Hopefully this is the last of the cards I have to make for Mothers Day this year. (Although after she saw this one i now have to give my mum a hand to make one similar to this for her to give to my Nan.)

This is for a friend at work, she chose the image from my stamp catalogue and told me she would like it to be pink (not really my colour) and sparkly. Again this was ordered after someone saw the card i'd made for my mum so I didn't want to stray too far from the original design and it is a variation on a theme from the other mothers day card i've done.

Products used:

Papers - Unkown pink distress paper fro stash, deep raspberry DCWV card and pearl card.
Stamped Image - Rose - Creative expressions, Flourish - Fancy Pants.
Letters - Cut using cuttlebug dies.
Background mat embossed using cuttlebug embossing folder.
Paper Lace - Cut using Martha Stewart doily border punch.
Embellishments - Pink gems, ribbons, flowers and stamens from stash, leaf punched from card
Greeting - Printed from computer and glossed with sakura pen.
Tools used - Cuttlebug machine and dies, Oval Nestabilites, Leone M leaf punch, Prima ink (Pink), Rototrim trimmer, water brush, Shaving brush for shading, Marvy Le Plume Pens and Martha Stewart Doily Punch.

I stamped the image a number of times and water coloured it using Marvy Le Plume pen and cut out the leaves and 2 layers of the rose which were cut, shaped and layered onto the base image and added some irridescent glitter to highlight the rose petals, i added gems to the corners of the image for a bit of added sparkle.

I printed the greeting from the computer and traced the letters with a sakura glaze pen and embossed the background mat using a cuttlebug embossing folder.

The main background paper was stamped with a large flourish and versamark ink and rasperry sparkle perfect pearls was brushed on to it. The edges of the image, greeting, mats and papers were all edged with a the pink ink and the edge of the image, greeting and the mat for the "MUM" letters were stamped with a small flourish stamp they were then all edged with a deep rasperry card and then pearl card and were then cut with a scallop blade on a rototrim trimmer.

I cut two strips of co-ordinating pearls and raspberry card and used the Martha Stewart Doily punch to create a paper lace effect and added cream and pink ribbon and pink gems.

I covered a piece of mount board with some of the pink stamped and perfect pearls paper and cut the "mum" letters out and stuck them onto their mat.

It was then assembled using ribbons, pearls, stamen and flowers from my stash and punched out leaves to embellish it.

Gold and Cream Mothers Day Card

Someone i work with saw the card i made for my mum for Mother's day and asked me if i could make something similar for her to give to her mother.

She left the image up to me and the only clue i was given with which way to go was "her living room is soft yellow/cream and gold" so i started from there.

Products used:

Papers - Papermania, matt gold foiled card and pearl card.
Stamped Image - Lilli of the Vally.
Letters - Cut using cuttlebug dies.
Background mat embossed using cuttlebug paisley embossing folder.
Paper Lace - Cut using Martha Stewart doily border punch.
Embellishments - Pearls, ribbon, flowers and pearl pins from stash, leaf punched from card
Greeting - Printed from computer and glossed with sakura pen.
Tools used - Cuttlebug machine and dies, Oval Nestabilites, Leone M leaf punch, Distress inks (Antique Linen), Rototrim trimmer, Marvy Le Plume Pens and Martha Stewart Doily Punch.

The edges of the image, greeting, mat for letters and papers were all edged with a the distress ink and the edge of the image and the mat for the "MUM" letters were stamped with a small flourish stamp they were then all edged with cream then gold mirror card ut with a scallop blade on the rototrim trimmer.

I cut two strips of co-ordinating gold and cream card and used the Martha Stewart Doily punch to create a paper lace effect and added cream and green ribbon and pearls.

I cut the MUM letters twice, once from mount board and once from gold card embossed with the paisley embossing folder and layered them together.

It was then assembled using ribbons, pearls, stamen and flowers from my stash and punched out leaves to embellish it.

18th Birthday Red Car

I was asked to make this card for a friend to give to his nephew for his 18th Birthday, he chose the image of the car which was a decoupage image so I was a bit limited in what i did as my colour scheme had to include red and as it was a card for man I couldn't include my normal sort of embellishments (flowers, gems, bows etc) so used a few challenges to inspire me on where to go with this one.

Product used:

Papers: Paper Adventures (red) and HOTP (Black - Not 100% sure on this one).
Decoupage image: no scissors required (although i did still trim it a bit).
Background to image and numbers stamped using hero art stamp.
Letter and numbers: cut using cuttlebug dies.
18th mat cut using nestabilites.
Border cut using martha stewart punch.
Embellishments:Grossgrain ribbons, pewter brads.
Tools used - Cuttlebug machine and dies, Spellbinder dies, Black Soot distress ink, Smokey grey Versafine ink.

I cut the papers and mats to size, stamped the mats and edged all of them with black soot distress ink. I prepared the border strip using the punch and added a layer of red ribbon and a narrower layer of black ribbon and assembled the layers adding brads to border strip. I cut some nestability spiky circles in black and silver and used them off set behind the may for the numbers to create a mechanical look and finally cut and added the name to card.

Mothers Day Easel Card

I decided this year i was going to try not leave anything until the last minute and have managed to stick to my resolution and make my Mothers Day card a couple of weeks early.

This is the first easel card i have tried and i was quite happy with the result.

Letters - Cut using cuttlebug dies.
Paper Lace - Cut using Martha Stewart doily border punch.
Embellishments - Pearls, ribbon, flowers from stash, leaf punched from card
Greeting - Printed from computer.
Tools used - Cuttlebug machine and dies, Oval Nestabilites, Leone M leaf punch, Distress inks (Old paper, Antique Linen and Walnut stain), Marvy Le Plume Pens, Glossy Accents, Martha Stewart Doily Punch and glitter.

I stamped the image and water coloured it using Marvy Le Plume pens, printed the greeting from the computer. The edges of the image, greeting, mat and papers were all edged with a combination of distress ink and the edge of the image and the mat for the "MUM" letters were stamped with a small flourish stamp and matted everything onto blue pearl card.

I cut two strips of co-ordinating paper and using the Martha Stewart Doily punch to create a paper lace effect and edged them with distress inks.

I covered a piece of mountboard with the K&Co paper, cut letter from it using a cuttlebug dies, edged with distress inks and coated with glossy accents and crystal glitter.

I then assembled the card using ribbons, pearls, stamen and flowers from my stash and punched out leaves to embellish it.

As another first have decided to enter this for a few of the challenges that inspired me in various ways.

Something of a landmark moment for me - my very first post on my first blog.

This card was done as an order for a friend to give to her sister-in-law. I orginally did a card with this design as a 50th birthday card for a colleague, from that one card i have then been asked to do 60th, 16th and this 40th version.

I'm not 100% happy with the photographs, so I think i will have to spend a bit of time trying out various location in the house to find the best light and background.

Products Used:

Papers: Blonde Moments, Papermania and unknown card from my stash.
Numbers cut on the cricut.
Balloon, presents and cakes cut using cuttlebug dies and embossing folders.
Embellishments: Stickles, Papermania Gems and Embroidery thread from stash.

To highlight and edge the numbers and balloons I ran a Marvy Le Plume pink pen around the edge and used a fine line black pen to draw the stitching onto the numbers to create a border.

Well that's it for now, will have to get a bit more practice in on getting the format of my posts right but hopefully this is not too bad a first attempt.
